March2Madness Blog
During the month of March we discussed many interesting films such as Misery, Field of dreams, and Rocky Horror Picture Show. These discussions were very fascinating and allowed us to discuss disorders such as bipolar as well as paraphilic disorders. I found paraphilic disorders especially interesting since it is such a taboo subject. We also discussed how even workers in health care will avoid these topics due to the uncomfortable nature of them.
Along with our discussions about this, the social media project groups have been working on a March Madness bracket project as well. This is a play on the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Instead of basketball however, we have created a bracket based on popular movie villains. The polls are then posted publicly on instagram and twitter following a similar voting schedule for the NCAA tournament. It was fun creating these brackets, we matched an image and a psychiatrist synopsis from Dr. Tobia to each character. Therefore, whoever wanted to learn more about the character was able to do so through the website.
Throughout this bracket, us in the wickedknights.org project group worked on keeping the website updated as well as making an image of the overall bracket for the other groups to post as matchups happened. This has been a very interesting project as some of the matchups were really odd and controversial such as Ursela and Medusa making the final 2!
Another one of our members was a part of the Instagram group! In this group we had to manage the voting. It was really fun putting the characters side by side as the background of all the polls. There were many moments where we couldn't believe who won the battles. We had to rally the votes, like the Twitter group, and pass on the message to all the other groups. This is where we got to discuss our opinions on the winners.
